Unique Metal Turning Co, Inc. is a family owned and operated screw machine shop that originated like many family operations do, low overhead and lots of craftsmanship.

After the plant shut down of Springfield, Missouri’s Royal Typewriter Co., Edward S. Grant left with twelve years of experience and the desire to continue his craft. I guess you could say that like many great ideas, this one started in his garage. With an old "turn of the century" 0G Brown & Sharpe, turner drive machine, he managed to feed our family and build ideas.

The need to expand their capabilities led Ed and Ruth Grant to the purchase of a capable building and more equipment, as funds allowed. With many long hours and late nights they together built their business with the family touch.

Unlike many manufacturing facilities Mom and Dad brought Unique Metal Turning to where it is today without the purchase of new and expensive machinery. As the company progressed, profits were put back into the company as to further build their capabilities and equipment.

Much like then, the staff at Unique Metal Turning Co. gives their customers that "Team Effort" feeling. We are dedicated to the screw machine craft and concentrate our abilities there. We do not brag on how much we have invested in our equipment but how much we can save you...that is the difference.
